Firearms Licensing

for mendon residents

apply for or renew your firearms license

  1. Log in or create an account on the MIRCS Firearms Licensing Portal.
  2. Complete and submit the online application through the portal.
  3. Schedule your in-person appointment online.
  4. Bring the required documentation and fees as outlined in the chart below. The in-person appointment will take approximately 15-30 minutes.

On the date of your in-person appointment, bring the following required documentation and fees. These items should not be dropped off in the lobby prior to your appointment, as they must be presented in person:

 

1. Firearms Safety Course Certification

A copy of your completed safety course from a certified safety instructor.

 

2. Processing Fee

A check or money order made out to the Town of Mendon for $100.00.

On the date of your in-person appointment, bring the following required documentation and fees. These items should not be dropped off in the lobby prior to your appointment, as they must be presented in person:

Under Age 18: A check or money order made out to the Town of Mendon for $25.00.

 

Restricted FID: A check or money order made out to the Town of Mendon for $25.00.

 

Standard FID: A check or money order made out to the Town of Mendon for $100.00.

Applicants over 70 years of age at the time of renewal will not be charged a processing fee.

On the date of your in-person appointment no additional documentation or fees are required.

application status

The Mendon Police Department cannot check the status of your firearms licensing application. Applicants should call the Massachusetts Firearms Records Bureau at (617) 660-4722.
