About the Cadet Program

Overview:

The Police Cadet Program is designed to provide young individuals with the opportunity to gain insight into the workings of law enforcement, develop valuable skills, and prepare for a future career in policing. Our cadets are integral to our community outreach and engagement efforts, playing a crucial role in fostering positive relationships between the police department and the public.

 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Age: 18-24 years old
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent and enrolled in college.
  • Background: No criminal record.
  • Commitment: Attend monthly training and abide by all rules and regulations set forth by the Mendon Police Department.

Program Benefits:

  • Hands-on Experience: Participate in ride-alongs, assist with community events, and learn about daily police operations.
  • Training: Receive training in areas such as CPR, first aid, and basic law enforcement techniques.
  • Mentorship: Work closely with experienced officers who provide guidance and support.
  • Career Development: Gain a competitive edge for future law enforcement opportunities, including potential tuition assistance for related educational programs.

How to Apply:

  1. Submit a resume and a personal statement explaining your interest in the program.
  2. Provide two letters of recommendation.
  3. Attend an informational session and interview.
