We are also honored to have been recognized by the Mendon Select Board last night for this achievement. Their support and acknowledgment highlight the importance of this milestone not just for our department, but for the entire community we serve.
Earning accreditation places the Mendon Police Department among an elite group of law enforcement agencies. We are one of only 10 accredited departments in Worcester County out of 60 eligible communities and one of just 118 accredited agencies in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts out of 351 eligible communities.
Receiving this Certificate of Accreditation is the result of a three-year process that involved a thorough internal review and an external assessment by MPAC experts. This voluntary process ensures that our department meets the best practices in law enforcement, both regionally and nationally, and allows us to continually improve how we serve and protect Mendon.
The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Program includes 257 mandatory standards and 125 optional standards. Our department met all applicable mandatory standards and many of the optional standards, covering key areas such as emergency response planning, training, communications, and detainee management.
We specifically want to thank Accreditation Manager Lieutenant Donald Blanchette and Accreditation Assistant Manager Sergeant Matthew Hoar for their hard work in coordinating this process and every member of the Mendon Police Department who contributed to this milestone.
This accreditation demonstrates our dedication to fostering a safe, thriving community here in Mendon. It’s more than a certificate; it’s a reflection of the trust you place in us and our ongoing effort to earn it every day. We are proud to continue building on this foundation, working together with the residents of Mendon to ensure our town remains a place where everyone feels safe, supported, and connected.
