Maple Street Fatal Crash

Mendon Police Department

On November 4, 2021, at approximately 12:51 p.m., emergency personnel from the Mendon Police Department and Mendon Fire Department responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision on Maple Street in the area of the Hastings Street intersection.

Upon their arrival, officers found that a 2011 Nissan Rouge and a 2019 Hyundai Kona were involved in a collision in that general area. The Hyundai Kona sustained rear end damage and the male operator was uninjured. The Nissan Rouge had rolled over and sustained significant damage from this collision. The male operator of the Nissan Rouge was trapped inside the vehicle and was extracted by Mendon Fire Department personnel. He was later transported by the Mendon Fire Department to Milford Regional Medical Center

The preliminary investigation indicates that the Nissan Rouge was travelling eastbound on Maple Street when the vehicle collided with the rear of the Hyundai Kona and continued to proceed down Maple Street, colliding with a tree trunk. This collision resulted in the vehicle rolling over on its roof.

Maple Street was closed, and traffic was detoured during the crash.

The Mendon Police Department later received notification that the male operator of the Nissan Rouge had passed away at Milford Regional Medical Center.

The remaining facts and circumstances remain under investigation by the Mendon Police Department, Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s Reconstruction Team and Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
